If you suspect that your friend’s gym selfies on Instagram mean she’s a narcissist, you could be right. Researchers from Brunel University in London conducted a study to understand why people share their workouts as a status update on social media. The results found that people who choose to document their gym activities tend to have more narcissistic personalities. Gym social posters who boast about the time they’re spending are motivated by their need for attention, and status updates involving the gym earn more “likes” than other kinds of posts, not to mention validation from their social media community.
