Travel Beauty Essentials

MAKEUP REMOVER

It doesn’t matter if you’re flying around the country or around the world, you’re going to need to freshen up when you get off the plane. Pack some makeup remover wipes in your carry-on luggage or a good bottle of liquid makeup remover to clean your face and protect your skin against breakouts. Acne is the last thing you’ll want to worry about on your vacation! Try: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

CLEANSER

When traveling, we spend a lot of time outdoors and in the elements — sightseeing, exploring and having fun! Unfortunately our face can be the thing that suffers the most from our vacation adventures, so remember to pack a moisturizing cleanser. And don’t forget — always take off your makeup before you cleanse! Try: Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser

MOISTURIZER

Some people think that moisturizer is only necessary in the hot summer months, but your face can get dry all year round, and especially if you’re hitting the slopes this winter. So if you’re sojourning in the south of Italy in summer or braving the New York City streets in winter, wear moisturizer. Try finding a moisturizer with an SPF rating of 15 (or higher, if you’re going to be on the sunny slopes) for extra protection from the sun. Try: Clarins HydraQuench Cream SPF 15

MASCARA

It’s an obvious product to pack, but have you thought about whether to take a waterproof mascara or regular mascara? No matter where you’re headed, it’s best to pack waterproof, as you never know where your journey might take you! Pack your mascara in your carry-on luggage and apply before getting off the plane. That way, you’ll look like you’ve had 12 hours of sleep instead of two. Try: Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara

LIP BALM

Regardless of whether your vacation will see you soaking up the sun on the beach or skiing down slopes, your lips need to be protected at all times. Make sure to pack a moisturizing lip balm or two with a good SPF rating. Try: any Burt’s Bees lip product

FOUNDATION

A vacation is a good time to give your skin a break from daily makeup routines, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing looking great. A tinted moisturizer with an SPF rating or a BB Cream will be your best friend on vacation. Your skin will look fresh and alive, and it’s much easier to put on than a thick foundation. Try: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

SETTING SPRAY

If you haven’t tried a setting spray yet, be prepared to fall in love. Perfect for when you want your makeup to stay on your face instead of sweating away, you will look amazing all day long. If you’re vacationing in a particularly hot city, bring setting spray to ensure your makeup looks just as good in the evening as it did when you put it on in the morning. Try: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

LIPSTICK

The last thing you’d want on vacation is to end up in a situation where you’re all dressed up for a nice night out, only to realize you don’t have any lipstick. Always carry your favorite lipstick with you for that just-in-case scenario. You never know when you may need it! Try: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick
