Each contender has something that will inspire you.
If someone were going to make her biopic, U.S. Olympic bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor says it would be titled “Get Back Up.” Why? “I’ve had a lot of different circumstances in my life that have shown me that no matter how many times you get knocked down, if you keep getting up eventually you’ll find success,” Taylor says. (And, she laughs, she’d cast Kerry Washington in the starring role.)
Team USA freeskier Gus Kenworthy and U.S. Paralympic sled hockey player Rico Roman are no strangers to Taylor’s experience, either. 24Life is honored to bring direct to you insights and inspiration from these extraordinary athletes who demonstrate how the physical aspects of competition bring body and spirit to life.
24 Hour Fitness has partnered with the U.S. Olympic Committee to support Team USA since 2004. For the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, 24 Hour Fitness is partnering with Kenworthy, Taylor and Roman. Meet these world-class athletes who make up Team 24.
- Gus Kenworthy is a member of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard team and competes in freeskiing and half-pipe events. He won the silver medal in freeskiing at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and he’s a seven-time world champion and five-time X Games medalist.
- Elana Meyers Taylor competes in two-woman bobsled as a member of Team USA. She won the bronze medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, and the silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. She is a two-time (and current) World Champion and has won more international World Cup medals than she can count, including winning a medal in every World Cup race so far this year. She is going to Pyeongchang for one very clear reason: to come home with the gold medal.
- Rico Roman plays forward on the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey team and scored gold at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. He’s a six-time IPC World Sled Hockey Challenge medalist and 2017 World Champion. He received a Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army, including three tours of duty in Iraq.
Watch for more about these athletes in 24Life, in January and February, 2018.
