He’s an author, an entrepreneur, the creator of the Wisdom 2.0 conference and a mindfulness expert, and Soren Gordhamer swears by a life philosophy of being present in every moment and acting with intention.

24Life recently sat down with Gordhamer to find out he creates a purposeful and fulfilling existence each day.

24Life: What tips would you offer for getting more out of your workout?

Soren Gordhamer (SG): I have always loved the line from a former Mr. Universe, “One lift with the mind is like ten without it.” Practice being fully present with each lift.

24Life: You only have 24 minutes to work out today. What would you do?

SG: Stretch, then either jog, swim or light cardio.

24Life: How do you stay fit on the road?

SG: I try to relax on planes and not work much, then I have more energy to go for long walks or work out when I get somewhere.

24Life: What’s your morning routine?

SG: Depends on the day. I meditate and go to the gym three to four times each week. Ideally I would like to do both each day, but generally find time to do both three to four times a week.

24Life: How do you prepare for performance?

SG: I like to be still and have quiet time and also imagine the worst case scenario in my head, and realize things are generally not so bad.

24Life: What is your power meal?

SG: Sautéed chard.

24Life: What stresses you and what’s your #1 stress buster?

SG: Lots of emails! I help that by going for walks.

24Life: Secrets to getting stuff done?

SG: One thing at a time, one thing at a time, and taking things one thing at a time.

24Life: Tips to get a good night’s sleep?

SG: Turn off electronics soon in the evening and dim lights, so your body can adjust to no light and the transition to sleep.

24Life: Any tips for meditation or reflection?

SG: Best to have a set time, often first thing in the morning. Otherwise, life intervenes!

24Life: What’s your greatest passion (outside of your work)?

SG: Nature.

24Life: Where do you find inspiration?

SG: Walking in the woods.

24Life: What’s on your bedside table (reading) or top of your podcast/playlist?

SG: The Revisionist History podcast by Malcolm Gladwell.

24Life: What is in your 24? Describe a typical day in your life?

SG: Connect with partner, workout, meditate, right down to do list for the day, tend to items of most importance, walk dog and get to bed early. Most importantly, be present and notice all there is to be grateful for.

24Life: Advice to the world in one sentence or your favorite quote?

SG: Follow the Yes, wherever that is.
