Eight Inspirational Celebrity
Weight-Loss Transformations

More than half of the American population wants to lose weight, according to data from a Gallup poll.

Weight loss is a real issue, and even celebrities have to deal with weight struggles. Here are eight celebs who have shed major pounds to live happier, healthier lives.

1. Oprah Winfrey

The queen of daytime television is no stranger to the spotlight. Over the years, her struggle with weight has remained in the public eye. Recently, Winfrey’s started sporting a new look — a 26-pound weight loss, springboarded by the Weight Watchers program. Some of her favorite foods that were allowed on the popular weight-loss program included protein-packed seafood and veggies like spaghetti squash. Winfrey told Today.com: “Gone, for me, are the days of wanting to be thin to fit into anything other than my best body and best life.” You go, girl!

2. Khloe Kardashian

Reality star Khloe Kardashian was often referred to as “the fat sister” by critics. Her sisters, Kim and Kourtney, are both beauty and body-image icons. Because of that, Khloe’s struggle with weight put her in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, but she didn’t let it break her spirit. Khloe lost an incredible 40 pounds by hitting the gym for cardio and strength training sessions, working regularly with a personal trainer and transforming her diet. Recently, she came out with a book “Strong Looks Better Naked” and debuted her new body on the cover of Complex in 2015, showing the world that hard work in the gym pays off.

3. Chris Pratt

Hollywood actor and heartthrob Chris Pratt shocked fans when he dropped major weight for his role in the 2015 blockbuster movie “Jurassic World.” Pratt was no stranger to a yo-yo weight. Many of the roles he’s played over the years have required weight loss or weight gain. Pratt said this eventually took a toll, as he was nearing 300 pounds. Thanks to his nutritionist and personal trainer, Pratt’s routine now includes activities like running, swimming, boxing, kickboxing and the popular workout P90X. He follows a 4,000-calorie-a-day diet plan and has eliminated beer.

4. Kirstie Alley

“Cheers” actress, movie star and spokeswoman for Jenny Craig, Kirstie Alley, lost an incredible 50 pounds, debuting her new, slimmed-down body in early 2015 on the “Today” show. Alley has spoken publicly about her weight gain and weight loss and the ups and downs that come with it over the years. This time, she says she is going to keep it off for good. Alley thanks the nutrition company Jenny Craig for her weight-loss success. Some of her favorite foods on the program include chicken fettuccini and a chocolate lava cake dessert — all in moderation. Keep on keepin’ on, girlfriend!

5. Wendy Williams

Daytime TV host Wendy Williams lost a total of 50 pounds over the span of three years. She revealed her slimmer bod to the world in 2015, crediting her own self-control for her miraculous weight-loss. She stopped eating meat and began doing Pilates and cardio to slim down. Williams doesn’t go to the gym just to shed pounds though. The 51-year-old says she hits the gym to stay healthy and prevent illnesses like heart disease. Williams still avoids refined sugars and dairy and has picked up the healthy habit of juicing to maintain her healthy look.

6. Jonah Hill

Funnyman and actor Jonah Hill’s weight struggles have been center stage over the past couple of years. In 2011, Hill shed 40 pounds for movie roles, but since then has gained it back. Recently the “Wolf of Wall Street” star seems to be making his health a priority. Inside sources report that some of the actor’s favorite workouts include running, push-ups and sit-ups. He was able to shed the pounds with the help of a nutritionist, who encouraged giving up pizza and eating fruits, veggies, lean protein and whole grains instead. Hill was spotted in New York City sporting a healthier look in late 2015. He told “ABC News,” “It was mostly diet. I wish there was some crazy thing that I did, like a pill or a genie or something.” Whatever he is doing it seems to be working out well for the star.

7. Jennifer Hudson

Oscar award-winning singer and Hollywood actress Jennifer Hudson dropped 80 pounds (80 pounds!) as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers between 2010 and 2014. She told “Yahoo Style,” “I don’t let food intimidate me. If it’s too much, I just get rid of it, but I make sure to watch what I put in my body. And I make sure I know what it is. It’s all about portions for the most part.” While she doesn’t live in the gym, she says, “I don’t work out a lot, but I do like to be active.” A healthy diet and regular activity seem to be her secret to her slim down.

8. John Goodman

Actor John Goodman wowed the world when he debuted his massive weight loss in early in 2016. The 63-year-old actor told “ABC News,” “I just stopped eating all the time.” He’s estimated that he’s lost more than 100 pounds. He quit sugar and stopped drinking. Additionally, sources say Goodman works out six times each week and follows a workout regimen created by a personal trainer that includes the stationary bike and elliptical machine. A healthier diet and moderation seem to be the reason for the weight loss. He’s gone about losing the weight slowly and because he has more energy, he has every intention of doing what it takes to keep it off. Good for you, John!
