Allies Share Their Pride

Last year, we asked influencers and married couple Montgomery Nicholas and Noah Wright for their take on identifying LGBTQ+ in the fitness world. This year, we asked their closest allies for their perspective on Pride and fitness in Montgomery and Noah’s lives. Here’s what they had to say.

April Montes @am_magariskincare

What does Pride mean to you, as an ally?

Pride to me is being there for someone without prejudice, showing TRUE acceptance and embracing one’s truth with open arms and open hearts. Overall, just having a true and pure love for LOVE.

How has fitness played a role in Noah and Montgomery’s health and happiness as members of the LGBTQ+ community?

Fitness is liberating for those frustrating, mentally exhausting and challenging days. It’s the early morning wake-up and a jumpstart to the day, where it’s time to be one’s true self, to manifest goals, to realign with one’s self and also being surrounded with people who have the same mind set. To me, fitness resets Montgomery and Noah and grounds them, allowing them to exist and also thrive, owning their dreams and goals.

What does Pride mean to you, as an ally?

Pride to me means a place where my fellow LGBTQ+ community is comfortable in their own homes, city, and not afraid to leave their house at any given moment. I can respect every part of that. Pride to me is a confidence in what you think is right. What you believe in, being proud of who you are, and stepping out. Pride comes from the word “proud.” Believing that you are enough.

How has fitness played a role in Noah and Montgomery’s health and happiness as a member of the LGBTQ+ community?

Monty and Noah are not only about looking good and being in shape. They both work really hard to stay health, knowledgeable and above all, kind. I can honestly say that they both encourage me to stay fit and kind.

What does Pride mean to you, as an ally?

Pride means being able to unapologetically express yourself. To show confidence in who you are without doubts or limitations and share that with the world.

How has fitness played a role in Noah and Montgomery’s health and happiness as a member of the LGBTQ+ community?

I believe fitness is an important aspect in their lives. Fitness allows you to step outside of the world around you and focus on goals and maintain your image and self- confidence. Taking care of your body and health are incredibly important, and Montgomery and Noah both are so supportive of each other and allow others to follow their journey in and out of the gym, which is uplifting and inspiring to the community.

What does Pride mean to you, as an ally?

We love Uncle Gummy (Montgomery) and Uncle Nono (Noah). They are just are normal uncles and we love them from the first day.

How has fitness played a role in Noah and Montgomery’s health and happiness as a member of the LGBTQ+ community?

We want to be like Uncle Gummy and Uncle Nono when we grow up. They work out every day and are big and strong with big muscles, they can pick up a car or outrun a T-Rex. Uncle Gummy can even pick us up at the same time!
