6 Worthwhile Risks for a More Rewarding Life

What exactly are you waiting for?

Do you know what you want to do with your life? Is it to make a difference in the world? Do you want the body of your dreams? Or maybe you just don’t want to feel tired all the time.

Like most people, you may find it hard to know exactly what you want out of life, to know what your purpose is.

I never knew what my purpose was until I was severely depressed and thinking about just ending it all. I wanted to give up. I’d had enough! But it was in that moment that I realized exactly what my purpose is: to be seen, to feel like I matter and to be heard.

And I wanted to help others who felt just like me—that they weren’t important or valued. So I immediately started taking more risks to create a more rewarding life, and long story short, here I am.

My point is that your brilliant future is now!

What are you waiting for?

Oh, I’ll start tomorrow.” “Now isn’t a good time. I don’t have enough money.” “I could do it if I really wanted to.” “I would, but I just don’t have the time right now.” “It’s just too hard to do right now. I have X, Y and Z going on.”

Have any of these thoughts crossed your mind?

The problem with this kind of thinking is you’re playing it safe while others are getting into shape and transforming their lives.

Let me share an amazing quote by motivational speaker Don Shapiro with you: “You can’t grow and improve [by] sitting on the sidelines watching others do what you really wanted to do.” Shapiro gets it; you can’t better yourself by simply being an observer. And it certainly doesn’t help to then beat yourself up because you somehow feel that others are smarter, are better or have more willpower than you.

This. Is. Not. OK. It’s time for you to get out there and make some changes! You have it in you.

What’s stopping you?

I say this with love: The only thing that’s stopping you from getting everything you want is you. You are in the way of creating your dream body, making enough time to sleep more, and feeling amazing in your own skin.

And guess what? I’m going to share with you six worthwhile risks to take for a more rewarding life. Here goes:

1. Face your fear

Admit that you have things you’re scared to do. Once you’ve come to terms with that, you can embrace it.

Talk it out. What are you scared of and what is the worst thing that can happen to you as a result of it?

Now that you’ve pinpointed your fear, you can embrace it. Thank it for being there to protect you, but let it know you’re going to do something different. You’re going to start living life full-out. Now, go get ‘em, tiger!

2. Transform your environment

Live in an environment that supports love, growth and change.

Get rid of the foods that are weighing you down. Literally. Redecorate your home so it reflects who you are on the inside and how you want to function. Clear out the relationships with people that don’t support you or bring any good into your life.

These things are holding you back from being the very best you, so why have them hanging around?

3. Celebrate your successes

Little steps lead to big changes. Every step along your journey counts, even if it feels insignificant.

You might think it’s not a big deal that you ran five more steps than you did yesterday or that you lost 0.05 pounds. But trust me, a little goes a long way.

Celebrating every success will encourage you to keep going even when times get tough. It also reminds you that you can do it. As a matter of fact, you are doing it!

4. Surround yourself with people you want to be like

There’s a great quote by motivational speaker Jim Rohn in which he says, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

If the people in your life are not doing anything to lift you higher or get you where you want to be, find a new support group. Surrounding yourself with people who have your back and support you as you are is crucial to your personal success.

If you feel like your family isn’t giving you what you need, find a group online in which people have the same goals as you. Find a way to be around people who make you want to be better.

5. Discover what you stand for

When you find something you’re passionate about, it can inspire you to start living today. Think about what things you support or oppose or what really lights that fire inside you.

Step beyond an obvious answer like “my children.” We have to know what we’re willing to die for if we really want to start living a more rewarding life.

6. Nourish yourself

Do something every day that feeds you. Do it today! Don’t wait until tomorrow when you have “more time,” “more money” or “more energy.”

There’s no better time to get yourself to 100 percent than right this second. You’ll see that when you start taking action today, everything else will fall into place.

So what is one thing you want to do but keep putting off, and what one risk can you take today to finally do it?
