Your September Chakrastrology Update

This month, hone into your creativity, tap into your abundance and access your flow state.

What is Chakrastrology™?

Editor’s Note: Chakrastrology is based on the principle that each of our chakras (energy centers) is ruled by a planet, and that by working with both, we experience greater health and well-being. This wisdom is rooted in ancient texts and brought to life in a modern context. By looking at our chakras in terms of the planets, we get a major advantage in working with them and in seeing what’s influencing them now. September 2017

September Chakrastrology skies focus on our sacral chakra and abundant creativity! All month long there is a tremendous planetary aspect involving Jupiter (ruler of the sacral chakra) known as a “kite.” This unique pattern acts like a slingshot, propelling our creative forces through destiny and manifestation, fueled by flashes of inspiration. Destiny is not fate; rather, it is the ability to say “Yes!” to your adventure. When you walk on the path laid out for you—your unique adventure—there is a greater sense of ease and alignment with your soul’s purpose. Complementing that this month is our ability to manifest what is in our highest interests.

When we choose what is right for us—“right,” determined by those conscious choices that help us lean toward the light—we have the power to create anything we wish. Now, this is not wishful thinking. Instead, this is powerful action aligned with purpose, and that is how manifestation happens. You say “yes” to the path before you, choosing what is right for you, and manifest what you need to follow your destiny.

This is inherent creativity

Creativity means more than just artistry. It represents our ability to make something out of nothing. We all have the ability to be creative, to make gleaming castles from the dust of our lives. The sacral chakra, known as svadisthana chakra, is the central hub of our abundance. Located in the lower belly and sacrum, this energetic hotspot is the foundation for the wellspring of flow—that creative state where time stops, we connect with bliss and are more joyful and productive than at any other moment. The ability to step into our flow takes the kind of energetic forces that are present this month. So, now is your chance.

As the energy of Virgo, present early in the month, moves into Libra on September 21, we have a shift in focus from our inner work to our outer world. Start this month by examining what belief structures you might have around your creativity, abundance and ability to step into the flow. Let those belief structures go, in order to allow that creativity to express the beauty and harmony that others enjoy later in the month.

The best thing you can do is tune into your intuition and openly receive any flashes of creative inspiration that come your way. More than anything else, those flashes are the guiding light to help you see your way on your path, choose what is right for you and tap into your creativity.

The full moon in Pisces on September 6 is going to be a good time to infuse any spiritual practices you take part in into this creative endeavor. Meditation, yoga or a personal ritual are great ways to clear the mind and make way for the inspirational flashes to come. Also, if there are any limiting beliefs in the way of your creation, it’s time to let them go. They no longer serve you, and only keep you playing small in a world that is asking for bigger things from you.

The new moon in Virgo on September 20 challenges your creative focus, so by this point in the month, make sure you have a solid lock on how to tap into your inspiration. It will challenge your desires and your beliefs, asking “What do you want?” and “How bad do you want it?” If you are prepared to answer these questions with the clarity that comes in the beginning of the month, then this new moon’s energy will actually be exactly what you need to follow through with your destiny and create what the world needs from you, and what you need from yourself.

Recommended activities: This month’s focus is on honing our creativity, tapping into our abundance and accessing our flow state. We do this by working with the sacral chakra, and doing things that help us to bust through perceived limitations and keep energy moving.

One of the best things you can do is participate in an activity that nourishes your soul. Whether that be playing outdoors, engaging in a friendly game with friends, dancing (try Zumba!) or taking a vinyasa yoga class, any activity that makes you simply connect with yourself and lose track of time is a sure way to tap into your flow state. Because the sacral chakra’s element is water, try doing something that immerses you in water: Go swimming (try an Aqua class at your local 24 Hour Fitness), take a relaxing bath or let the shower run over your whole body, starting at the crown of your head. Also, since this month is about creativity, try doing your favorite creative activity! Whether it be painting, sculpting, journaling, crafts or anything else your heart desires, this is the month to let your wild ideas become reality!

September Chakrastrology meditation: Working with the sacral chakra means activating our creativity and abundance and connecting with the energy of the planet Jupiter, who rules this energetic hotspot. Jupiter, known for his expansive and playful nature, lends a joyful and exuberant touch to this chakra. When we tap into our flow state, we embody Jupiter energy, and kick up our abundance and creativity full-steam. Try the following meditation to help you step into your flow.

Choose a small vessel and fill it with water. Light a candle, and seat yourself comfortably with the water nearby. Take your ring finger, wet it in the water, and then anoint your third eye and sacral chakra by touching between your eyebrows and just below your belly button. Place your hands in prayer, bow your head gently and close your eyes.

Settle your breathing, and connect with the energy of the sacral chakra by bringing all your awareness to this place. Rest your hands in your lap and sit up tall as you soften your breath and focus only on the sacral chakra. When you feel connected, silently invite the sacral chakra to give you a message. This message may come in the form of an image, a sound, a feeling or a sensation. Whatever message you get, accept it.

When you’ve received the message, bring your hands back to prayer and bow your head slightly. Close out the meditation with a deep breath (and a chant of “om” if you’d like). Write down three ways in which you can act upon the message you received. Listening to your body, and following through with what you hear is one of the most powerful forms of creative manifestation possible!

Mantra of the month: I creatively manifest that which brings me joy, and connects me to my highest purpose.

September’s Chakrastrology focus:

Sacral chakra + Jupiter
Focus: Emotional balance
Location: Sacrum, lower belly, sexual organs
Core Mantra: I am enough.
Element: Water
Sanskrit Name: Svadhistana (her favorite standing place)

Jupiter’s energy of expansiveness, playfulness and sexuality dominate the sacral chakra. It emphasizes the emotions located here, and reminds us that our emotions are fluid, changing, and that joy and intimacy are the antidotes to stress.

More on Chakrastrology

The ancient wisdom of the chakras reveals that there are “energetic hot spots” within the body where we store our experiences, emotions and beliefs. When we don’t examine these deeper elements of the self, then eventually imbalances in these areas manifest as physical sensations like tension or chronic pain. This is the inherent link between mind and body, and the chakras provide us a road map for unlocking it!

To take this understanding further and to see how our chakras are being influenced by the outside world, we look at their connection to the planets, which are yet another ancient body of wisdom. In alignment with the alchemical idea “As above, so below,” we watch the planets above us for insight into what’s happening within us. For millennia, astrologers have witnessed the influence of the planets on our day-to-day lives.

By recognizing the intrinsic links between the planets and areas of our body (the chakras), we also get invaluable information about how to optimize our health and well-being. This comprehensive system, known as chakrastrology, bridges the gap between outer and inner, and helps us make sense (and greater health).
