Ideas and insight for conscious living from a renowned and loved fitness celebrity.

Jorge Cruise is a fitness expert, weight-loss coach, a New York Times best-selling author and celebrity health adviser. He is constantly innovating and researching to create formulas that work for his clients, who are some of the most elite and thus time-crunched individuals in the world — who expect workouts and nutrition plans that work quickly.

Among the celebrities who have followed Cruise’s diet plans are Jennifer Lopez, Lucy Liu, Kyle Richards, Eva Longoria and Steve Harvey.

24Life recently sat down with Cruise to find out more about his daily routine and inspirations for leading a healthy and fit life that inspires millions. We also learned more about his latest book “Tiny and Full: Eat More, Weigh Less, and Turn Off Hunger All Day,” which offers a controversial yet straightforward eating plan, a fresh fitness program and a variety of tasty recipes.

24Life: Regarding a typical day in your life, what is your morning routine? What is your bedtime routine?

Jorge Cruise (JC): My morning routine starts off with an early wake-up call at 4:30 a.m. After I shower, I have my steel-cut oats and berries for breakfast. Then I do a Hilo Yoga workout as the sun rises live on social media with my followers. The workout sets the tone for my day and brings me clarity. Not to mention since I live-stream it on social media, it helps inspire others to start their day off with fitness with me.

At bedtime, I usually curl up in bed or on the sofa with my husband with whatever newest book I am reading and my favorite cup of Tazo Calm Chamomile tea.

I do recommend to all my clients to turn off electronics and bright lighting at night. It disrupts our body’s sleep hormone melatonin.

24Life: Where do you find inspiration for new ideas to share?

JC: Since it’s 2017, I tend to find my ideas and inspirations from social media. I’m always exploring different fitness and nutrition trends on different Instagram accounts and hashtags.

24Life: As a speaker/author/coach/mentor to so many, how do you achieve work-life balance — if you do?

JC: I try to manage my time the most effective way possible. This usually involves me asking myself, “What is the next right move?” Instead of getting overwhelmed by everything on my to-do list, I try to focus on what is the next best thing I can do. I do owe a great amount of credit to my assistant Cesar for helping me balance all my responsibilities, meetings and schedule. Without the support of my family and team, I wouldn’t manage everything with precision.

24Life: If you only have 24 minutes to exercise/move today, what do you do?

JC: I would do my Hilo Yoga workout. It is the most efficient workout I’ve ever created. It’s super efficient if you want to squeeze in a workout during a lunch break or even before a big event. Research shows you can achieve more progress in 15 minutes of interval training like Hilo Yoga than jogging on a treadmill for an hour. The workout combines intense moves like shadowboxing with recovery yoga poses like the Buddha Squat. The back-and-forth alteration between intense and recovery moves pushes your body toward its metabolic limits. A Hilo Yoga workout revs up the body’s metabolism and increases it’s fat burning, serotonin, muscle preservation and production of your human growth hormone.

24Life: What are you most passionate about?

JC: From my perspective, the most important thing we can do for our bodies and for our environment is to eat a plant-based diet.

24Life: What book are you reading at the moment?

JC: I’m currently reading one of my mentor’s and dear friend’s book, “Tools of Titans.” It teaches you the tactics, routines and habits of performing at your best. I highly recommend it; it’s an 11 out of 10.

24Life: What do you do to relax or regenerate?

JC: I love doing Bikram Yoga or getting a deep-tissue massage. As a trainer and active dad to two sons, it’s important that I take the time to let my body heal and repair. Hot Yoga like Bikram increases flexibility and muscle strength, and it improves respiration energy and vitality. Research today shows that massage therapy repairs muscle tissue, minimizes soreness, and reduces anxiety and physical ailments. My favorite kind of massage is deep tissue because it concentrates on the deep layers of muscle in the body and releases tension.

24Life: What is your favorite energizing meal to nourish yourself?

JC: Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day and is by far the most important one. So I always start my day with an energizing bowl of steel-cut oats with either blackberries or a sliced banana on top. Paired with my Tiny and Full plant-based protein shake, this meal gives me the right amount of antioxidants, fiber and vitamins that I need to start my day.

24Life: What’s next for Jorge Cruise? A new book, trip or what else are you working on?

JC: I am currently training and transforming the lives of underdogs on Khloé Kardashian’s new weight-loss show “Revenge Body With Khloé Kardashian.” I’m also helping Steve Harvey get in the best shape of his life for his 60th birthday this year with my newest weight-loss book “Tiny and Full.” The book teaches you how to eat off the pounds by filling up on foods that are big in size but low in calories so that you can literally eat off the weight. It’s an incredible nutrition plan that turns off hunger and allows you to lose up to 4 pounds a week.

24Life: Any advice for the world in one sentence or a quote that’s inspired you the most?

JC: I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes that inspired me to get in the best shape of my life.
